Appoint Lok Pal in Haryana within 6 months
Our High Court Correspondent

Chandigarh, February 25
A Division Bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court comprising Mr Justice H.S. Bedi and Mr Justice Viney Mittal today directed the Haryana Government to appoint a Lok Pal for the state within six months.

Disposing of a PIL filed by Mr Naresh Kadyan of Rohtak in this regard, the Bench noted that the state government had informed the court on the last hearing that the process for the appointment of the Lokayukta had already been initiated.

In his petition, Mr Kadyan had sought directions to the state government to appoint a Lok Pal as the post was laying vacant after the then Lokayukta, Justice I.P. Vashishth, was removed by the Om Prakash Chautala government in 1999.
