Notice to Haryana Chief Secy
Our High Court Correspondent

Chandigarh, September 30
Mr Justice M.M. Kumar of the Punjab and Haryana High Court today issued notice to the Chief Secretary, Haryana, Mr G. Madhavan, asking him to explain why contempt of court proceedings should not be initiated against him.

The notice was issued on an application moved by Mr Naresh Kadyan of Rohtak, seeking action against the Chief Secretary for not implementing the February 25 order of the High Court directing the Haryana Government to appoint a Lok Pal for the state within six months.

The High Court Division Bench headed by Mr Justice H.S. Bedi had passed this order on the PIL filed by Mr Kadyan in this regard.

During the hearing, the government had informed the court that the process for appointment of Lok Pal had already been initiated.

However, in his application for contempt proceedings against the Chief Secretary, Mr Kadyan stated that till date nobody has been appointed Lok Pal.

The case will come up for further hearing on December 17.
